The next-gen Xbox console, codenamed Project Scarlett, was just announced at E3 2019’s Microsoft Xbox briefing. According to Microsoft, it will be released in 2020.
Project Scarlett aims to deliver a new machine with the greatest generational leap in console performance. Microsoft claims it will be four times more powerful than the Xbox One X, thanks to a custom processor that uses AMD’s Zen 2 and Navi technologies. It is expected to support up to 8K video resolution, 120 frames per second, variable refresh rate, and next-gen Ray-tracing.
It will also be using new SSD that can also function as virtual RAM, providing the console with up to 40 times increase in loading performance over the current generation.
Even though there is no official name for the next-gen console yet, Microsoft has already confirmed that it will have a major launch title: Halo Infinite. Halo Infinite is expected to fully demonstrate the capabilities of the new console. You can check out the trailer for the game below:
