Spanish Developer MercuryStream, who recently released the critically acclaimed Metroid Dread with Nintendo is now working on a new title called ‘Project Iron’.
We know little about the game as it is likely still in pre-development considering the developer only just finished work on Metroid Dread a few months ago. What we do know is that the game will be a third-person RPG game set in a dark fantasy world.
For Project Iron, MercuryStream is partnering with the Italian publisher Digital Bros. They are attempting to release the game on both consoles and PC and the two companies will co-own the new IP.
Digital Bros is actually is a subsidiary of 505 Games who has published games like Don’t Starve and the PC port of Death Stranding.
Considering the horror elements of Metroid Dread and the studio’s earlier Castlevania Lords of Shadow projects, MercerySream certainly has experience with games set in a dark fantasy setting.
With that being said the studio has also recently caught flak for not crediting certain people that worked on the Metroid Dread as well as allegations of general poor management. As of this article, MercuryStream posted a response to the lack of credits but not the more serious allegations.
