WFS has announced an AI mobile application, dubbed as “MEMES”, to be developed jointly with Preferred Networks. The expected release date for the application is summer 2021. Preferred Networks is involved in deep learning research, and together with WFS, “MEMES” is meant to create a new form of digital entertainment in conjunction with AI / Artificial Intelligence.
The official website and Twitter have been opened, revealing details about the production staff. The key visuals are by Yuugen, who has designed characters for the Atelier series, scenario writer Naoko Sato – Siren, Gravity Rush – with music by Kan Inoue, of WONK. Hayato Sumino of Cateen and singer kiki vivi lily have also contributed their performances.
“MEMES” is intended to evolve as you interact with the program, as the use of AI and deep learning would imply, for a new form of entertainment. This can probably be taken as the next step in chatting with an AI, like conversational chatbots you can look up online, or maybe even like a smart assistant like Alexa, Siri or similar. We’ll have to see if this is practical enough to catch on as technology continues to advance, much like how AR slowly gets more ubiquitous.
