Melty Blood : Type Lumina will include fully customizable color palettes, letting you tune characters looks to your own liking.
In a special feature run in Famitsu (thanks, Anime FGC News) they showed that the newest entry in the Melty Blood series would allow you to simply make your own color palette, recoloring the character models to your liking.
Anime FGC News also describes the ability to add “accessories”, but given the sprite based nature of the game they shouldn’t be anything too complex, and more akin to how some Skullgirls skins can feature characters wearing socks by just changing the color of their legs. The excerpt from Famitsu confirms this, by showing Arcueid with aforementioned high socks.
This isn’t entirely out of left field for Melty Blood, however. Actress Again has a laughably robust color selection, arguably the most advanced of any fighting game.
While the game will now have a more standard 10-spread of preset color palettes, the color palette options for Melty Blood : Type Lumina will make sure that every player can come up with a look unique to them, at no extra cost.
The announcement also follows the latest of the character trailer reveals today, which shows the duo characters, the maids Hisui and Kohaku. It looks like they can be played individually as well, but as the duo they play in a way similar to “Puppet” archetypes such as Carl Clover from Blazblue or Zato-1 from Guilty Gear.
