A New Melty Blood game, Type Lumina, has been announced, coming to all major consoles some time this year.
Melty Blood Type Lumina is the follow-up to the infamous Tsukihime fighting game, taking place in the same timeline as the recently announced Tsukihime remake. The game was announced in the latest volume of Type-Moon Ace, as spotted by Twitter user BananaShiki. A website has also been launched for the upcoming game, though it only says “Coming Soon” for now.
The game will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. No PC release has been announced yet, though that hasn’t ruled out a later release like Melty Blood got with Actress Again: Current Code.
Four of the characters for Type Lumina have been announced, with the magazine showing off Shiki, Ciel, Arcueid and Akiha.
From the screenshots shown, it looks like the game will be adopting a more similar art style to Under-Night, the fighting game that also featured Melty Blood character Eltnum as a guest. It even features cut-ins of the characters portraits, presumably as you use super moves.
Melty Blood is the fighting game based on Tsukihime, the visual novel by the same creators of the widely popular Fate/Stay Night. The series has remained a lot more niche to its counterpart, getting an anime in the past as well as having Tsukihime characters appear in Fate Carnival Phantasm.
