Insomniac announced today Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the follow up to the original game and its expansion, Miles Morales.
The game is slated for release in 2023, and it looks as though it’s going to be a PS5 exclusive. Considering how much further into the PS5’s life cycle the game will launch, it makes sense that PlayStation would be moving more towards PS5 exclusives.
Details are still scarce on the sequel, but the teaser confirms several things. One, that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in some capacity- though we still don’t know if this means you’ll be able to switch between characters or not.
The biggest reveal appears to be the big villain for the game, which introduces Venom. Despite being one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, the character has been missing from Spider-Man’s MCU appearances, with this being the first major one in a while.
Meanwhile, the voiceover in the teaser also sounds a lot like Kraven The Hunter, another rare pick for a Spider-Man villain.
Marvel’s Spider-Man was generally well-received, with Insomniac being praised for the non movie tie-in featuring Marvel’s wall-crawling superhero. Despite being more of an expansion its follow up, Miles Morales, was a direct continuation of the game’s story which took place after the main game’s story.
