NIKKE: Goddess of Victory has no shortage of unplayable favorite characters- but this event, the star of the show is Liliweiss, leader of Goddess squad.
For those not in the loop, Liliweiss is a character who’s been discussed in the story heavily despite not even having an appearance- the spring’s Over Zone Event dealt with the ramifications of her passing, while the game’s story itself has made big hints that she might be the game’s major antagonist.
With the Red Ash event currently ongoing in NIKKE, we’re treated to a not-evil, not-dead version of Liliweiss- and what do you know, she’s stolen everyone’s hearts.
Since her reveal in the livestream, many have taken to the pseudonimity of reddit to express their love for the legendary Goddess, such as this incredibly upfront soul:
“Yeah, like daayyyyyyyyyyyummmmmmmm, Liliweiss is 1000% my type”, writes Aaron Valacirca.
“She wears a small pencil skirt with black pantyhose. I would whale for her”, writes one more user whose name is too explicit for this publication.
Others have even pointed out we’re in for a Short-Hair Girlboss Reckoning, noting the similarities between Liliweiss and Tenka from Chained Soldier, which is also getting an anime adaptation.
Is Liliweiss Playable? (Editorial)
Funnily enough, while a lot of gacha games are known to have Main Character syndrome with obvious future characters, NIKKE is in a bit of an odd place- almost every update seems to introduce just one more character that’s not playable, much to everyone’s chagrin. That’s not to say they don’t ever eventually become playable, like with Mast, but it’s more important to note that each of the Big Three have absolute banger designs and will never be playable.
Personally, I think we could very well get a Liliweiss side story in NIKKE- as is, the game seems to be setting her up as a tragic figure. Red Ash sees her at her peak, and previous events have already shown the sorry state Goddess Squad ends up in after her passing.
Given her status as Satoru Gojo as a NIKKE, there’s a lot of room to explore how messed up she is as a result of it all- just like how Over Zone gave us the dismantling of Dorothy and Red Ash shows us just how cold Snow White becomes, it seems par for the course that Shift Up might show how much of Liliweiss’ carefree facade ends up being a mask to hide her own problems.
Considering Goddess events seem to only come about for half-anniversaries, it does mean we’d have to wait at least another 6 months for any hope of the character. I’m personally fine with her being relegated to the Dainsleif zone of unplayability- but I’d still love to see her at all just because she’s so damn charming.
