Malaysian Visual Novel ‘Kabaret’ Will Launch In Early April

Kabaret, a new visual novel adventure game by Malaysian developer Persona Theory Games will launch on Steam on the 5th of April 2023.

A demo for the game is currently available on its Steam page if you’re interested in trying it out before release.

In this dark fantasy visual novel, you take the role of Jebat, a monster that used to be human. He is taken to The Kabaret, where creatures from across Southeast Asian mythology reside, play games, and occasionally eat a baby. While not a horror game, the title does have a rather dark sense of storytelling that isn’t for the faint of heart.

You’ll see over 20 classic ASEAN boogiemen like Pontianaks, Ekeks, and even the Ghost of World War II Era Japanese Soldier. There are also several mini-games based on traditional games like Congkak and Guli that you can play with your fellow monsters, just be careful you don’t lose, you never know what the consequences will be.

Kabaret will launch for PC and Mac via Steam on the 5th of April 2023.
