Malaysia is about to have its very own Disneyland and not only that, we are also getting a new transportation system to connect all the tourist hotspots in Melaka.
UPDATE (17/11): This story has been proven false, with corroborated sources familiar to the matter outright denying it. In the interest of preserving context, the original article will remain as follows:
The Disneyland theme park, dubbed the Disney City is planned to be built in Daerah Jasin, Melaka and will begin construction in the year of 2027 sizing roughly 80.9 hectares of land
The announcement came from the Majlis Menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) press conference at Hotel Mudzaffar, Ayer Keroh that was attended by Exco for Tourism, Heritage and and Culture of Melaka, Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis, Vice President of Menara Taming Sari, Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem and many others.
“After over 20 years, we will be having a brand-new theme park even if it is not as big but I feel it is worthy enough to bring in the name of Disneyland,” said Exco for Tourism, Heritage and and Culture of Melaka, Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis.
He has also mentioned that it will be the first theme park to be constructed in ASEAN after China, Korea, Europe and Japan and the cost of the project is expected to be about 2 billion MYR.
The cost of the project not only covers the construction of Disneyland but also the construction for a new transportation system called the “Maglev”.
The Maglev will be a brand-new train system that connects all the tourist hotspots across Melaka spanning roughly 22 Kilometres in length. The train will be a wheelless rail train that floats with the electromagnetic force which is inline with Melaka’s goal of building a green city.
To summarize once more, Malaysia will be having their very own Disney City in Melaka along with the Maglev train to connect all tourist hotspots across Melaka.
