Makai Wars to terminate service in October 2022

Nippon Ichi Software has just announced that it will be terminating services for Makai Wars, its SRPG for the Android and iOS platforms. The game first made its debut around four years ago on 14 February 2018.

The announcement was made via its Twitter account, with no mention if any sort of refunds will be introduced, as it merely thanked the existing userbase for the good times, as short-lived as it may be. The opening movie one last time for good measure.

To recap, Makai Wars is an SRPG that not unlike Makai Senki and the company’s famed Disgaea series. It features Asagi as its protagonist, and astute Disgaea fans will remember her as a recurring character in their game. Asagi was supposedly the protagonist a cancelled Makai Wars release on the PlayStation 2, before finally making her way to mobile.

The rest as they say is history, as her adventure will soon come to a close. It is always sad to see games like this not live up to their full potential, especially since they were relegated from arguably a more appropriate platform. In any case, Nippon Ichi fans still have other things to look forwardto, so it isn’t the end of the world. Perhaps Asagi will make her way to something else down the line.
