Originally released 26 June 2019 in Japan for PC, Magicami will be available in English with pre-registrations now open via Nutaku and Johren. The game made its smartphone debut, also in Japan, on 11 June 2020. It currently appears that Magicami will also be initially PC-based for its English release, as neither Nutaku or Johren has revealed a mobile version on their landing pages.
The story is given as follows:
Shibuya, Tokyo is the stage. Both dreary and delightful in its own way. The girls spend their normal daily lives there.
Then, suddenly, enemies called demons appeared, along with something that resembles a black cat.
The black cat grants the girls mysterious new powers. The power to call forth new potential – the power to determine their own circumstances – and borrowing the power of potential, the girls join the battle.
The battle to determine both the world’s future and their own.
In their own words, the game is described as a “Destructive! Violent! Demonic! Intense 3D magic girl battle action!” title. It is also an adult title, having risque and more overtly suggestive elements even if it’s kept tame for the promotional material.
As one might expect, there are rewards for pre-registrations milestones for this English release of Magicami:
- 10,000: 100x Jewels
