“Reinvent the past and retake the future”: that’s what The Brothers’ War storyline brings forth in Magic: The Gathering‘s four-part Phyrexian storyline. Learn the true story of what shaped the Multiverse when the set launches 18 November 2022.
The standard set is the first to incorporate Universes Beyond with Transformers, featuring them in the events that shaped one of the most world-definiting moments in Magic‘s history. The Brothers’ War contains 287 cards, with fans from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines able to obtain limited-edition Token collectables by purchasing at least MYR450 worth of products.
This time, fans can get themselves the Construct or Urzan Automaton Token, the first two of a three-part series The Brothers’ War Battlefield Mural set in varied transparency. It can be connected to the earlier limited-edition 3-part Token set that has been progressively released since the launch of Dominaria United in September. Each customer is entitled to One Token only, while stocks last. More details will be available through the official Facebook page.
Amidst the devastating Phyrexian invasion, Planeswalker Teferi seeks answers in the past through the legend of a bitter rivalry between two brothers, Urza and Mishra. The Brothers’ War, known also as the ‘Antiquities War’, was a conflict that shattered the plane of Dominaria with titanic mechs, colossal dreadnaughts and magical warfare, inciting a series of events that shaped the future of the entire Multiverse. First depicted in Magic’s second-ever expansion set released in 1994, ‘Antiquities’, The Brothers’ War reveals the sibling rivalry as not so much a tale of ‘good vs. evil’ as the legends depict.
The set revolves around artifacts such as Powerstones – first introduced in Dominaria United – to be tapped for additional mana unusable on non-artifact spells. Prototype is an alternate cost for giant mechs where they can enter the battlefield earlier trading off for stats. Meld returns, for you to combine two cards for one oversized one. There’s also Unearth, where cards can return from the graveyard but it gets exiled at the end of turn.
The Transformers enter the fray, with Optimus Prime, Megatron, and more, to join the battle, presented in mech-style borderless frames. There’s 10 full-art basic lands telling a story of their own, where you will be able to witness where the mechanical behemoths fought underneath Urza and Mishra. Additionally, there will be retro reprints of famous artifacts and artifact creatures, with schematic designs available in foil and non-foil treatments. The two Commander Decks built around both brothers also have a retro frame treatment.
The Brothers’ War is obtainable as Draft Boosters, Set Boosters, Collector Boosters, Jumpstart Boosters, Commander decks and Bundles.
