With its second season airing later this year, the popular fantasy manga, Made in Abyss will also be getting a game adaptation from Spike Chunsoft and Chime Corporation.
Titled ‘Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness’, the game is a survival RPG that adapts the original story of the series while bringing its own original content, including a Character Creation option that allows players to assume the role of their own character within the story.
The developers have released the first gameplay trailer. The trailer itself shows story cutscenes to highlight the challenging survival gameplay at the bottom of the Abyss. You can watch the trailers below, available in both English and Japanese dubs:
The survival elements of the game are in line with the anime’s themes of trying to survive in the Abyss, where each layer has different environmental conditions and is increasingly brutal to explore. In an effort to reach the base layer, players will certainly be faced with various challenges such as exploration in extreme environmental conditions and battling against wild monsters.
Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness is scheduled to be released in the fall of this year. It will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
In addition to the new game, the second season of the Made in Abyss anime will begin airing in July. Season 2 focuses on exploration in the sixth layer of the Abyss, namely The Capital of the Unreturned.
