Spike Chunsoft has announced a Made in Abyss console game, titled Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness. The description for the game via Spike Chunsoft’s Twitter account is given as follows:
We will be releasing a 3D Action RPG based on the popular manga Made in Abyss, which also announced a 2nd season for its anime today. Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will be coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in 2022.
Descend into the world of the Abyss and grow through surviving its depths in this 3D Action RPG. Relive the anime’s story in the game and experience an original story supervised by the series author, Akihito Tsukushi. Event scenes are fully voiced by the anime’s cast!
Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness has also opened an official website, with a few more provisionary screenshots from the console title. It looks like there’ll be exploration, and a whole bunch of survival simulation mechanics too. There’s a brief story blurb that reads as follows:
The world’s sole remaining, unconquered chasm, the Abyss, is the stage where many adventures are born…and disappear.
Those who appear in these stories are mesmerized by the power of the Abyss and aim for the bottom of the netherworld.
The story about to be told is that of a nameless Cave Raider that begins their adventure many days after Riko and Reg depart for the Abyss.
It implies you’ll be playing an original character, so you too could explore the titular Abyss for yourself. In any case, keep an eye out for the game.
