m HOLD’EM is SEGA Sammy‘s spin on Texas Hold’em, which is a variant on the good ol’ poker card game, for mobile devices. m HOLD’EM will launch in Japan 1 July 2021, and is basically your classic hold’em game, but it does feature the artwork of popular illustrators alongside well-known voice actors. The game intends to break into the esports market in Japan, with a live broadcast of the finals and championship tournament. The championship prize pool sits at 1 million yen, while the finals offers 3.31 million yen.
Pre-registrations for the game are open as well, if you want that anime flavour alongside your poker games. Participate in free matches, friend matches, ranked and tournament modes, with a UI designed catered to both beginners and veterans. In lieu of in person, face-to-face games, you can communicate with the other players through stickers.
Alongside m HOLD’EM, SEGA Sammy are also in partnership with Kadokawa to produce a multi-media project, HIGH CARD. Kakegurui mangaka, Homura Kawamoto, character designer Ebimo, and Kakegurui Trip / Joker‘s author, Hikaru Muno are involved alongside TMS Entertainment. Details regarding the somewhat related project will be revealed over time. HIGH CARD‘s official Twitter is open if you fancy more “card games”.
