Lord of the Rings (LotR): The War of the Rohirrim is premiering in GSC this December according to their Facebook post. There was a 20 minutes preview at the Annecy Animation Festival which introduced Princess Héra of Rohan.
The premise of the story is set nearly 200 years before Bilbo Baggins comes into contact with the ring of power, and centers on the House of Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan, with a focus on his daughter, the strong willed Princess Héra. Miranda Otto will be returning as Éowyn, the film’s narrator.
The film is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who has worked on previous titles like Blade Runner: Black Lotus and various Ghost in the Shell projects as well as Akira. Many are looking forward to watching Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim once it releases internationally.
According to Variety, Director Kenji Kamiyana said he was inspired by not just J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” books, but also by films of executive producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, who were confirmed to be working on this film as well during the session.
