Live action Resident Evil to stream on Netflix

Netflix confirms the production of a live action Resident Evil series which will be arriving on the platform. Building off the popular survival horror video game franchise, Resident Evil on Netflix will tell a brand new story across two timelines:

In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.

There will be eight 1 hour episodes, with director/executive producer Bronwen Hughes (the first 2 episodes), and executive producers Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben of Constantin Film and Mary Leah Sutton, and producer Martin Moszkowicz on staff. Constantin Film, who will be handling the adaptation, also produced the Resident Evil six-film franchise which collectively earned more than $1.2 billion worldwide making it the most successful movie franchise based on a video game.
