From staying alive against Lu Bu in the games to Lu Bu going live on the big screen, the Dynasty Warriors movie will release on 30th April.
The Dynasty Warriors movie’s official weibo page made this announcement, while IGN China uploaded the trailer on YouTube, teasing its release date. Check out the trailer below:
Currently, the film’s release is only for Chinese theatres later this year. It is unknown whether or not the Dynasty Warriors movie will get an international release.
Directed by Roy Chow, the movie is based on the Dynasty Warriors games. The hack and slash franchise itself is based on the historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by Luo Guanzhong. The games’ publisher, Koei Tecmo teamed up with Hong Kong-based HMV Digital China Group Limited to create the movie.
The film’s cast includes:
- Louis Koo as Lu Bu
- Kai Wang as Cao Cao
- Tony Yang as Liu Bei
- Geng Han as Guan Yu
- Coulee Nazha as Diao Chan
The film will cover the earlier events of the games, focusing primarily on Lu Bu. In the trailer, we can see the Battle of Hu Lao Gate taking place. In particular, the climax of the battle where Lu Bu takes on Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.
