Lineage W to launch for smartphones

NCSoft has just announced Lineage W, a new entry in its popular MMORPG series, for the Android and iOS platforms. The game is scheduled to make its way to the PC as well.

As part of the announcement, we are treated to a teaser website that reveals a bit more of the game’s concept, although no actual gameplay was shown. We will instead have to make do with the numerous cinematics which have been posted on the website and guess from there what the final product will be. One interesting to note is that there will be cross play between the mobile and PC, with details to be fleshed out at a later date.

In any case, NCSoft will be having a presentation on 19 August 2021, where it will further detail the game, including of course, actual gameplay. Although Lineage W is not the first game in the franchise to come to the mobile, it is the first one to feature cross play, which is always nice. That said, one does wonder how the control scheme will be since has to run well enough on the small screen. Genshin Impact, while not featuring crossplay, did have controls work on the mobile, so it does show that any game with fairly complex combat mechanics can be executed.
