According to PR Newswire, LightSpeed Studios is strengthening its commitment to innovation by establishing independent regional studios dedicated to developing original, cross-platform titles.
Best known for PUBG MOBILE (co-developed with KRAFTON), the studio is expanding globally with cutting-edge development facilities. These studios, including its LA headquarters and the newly launched LightSpeed Japan Studio, will have direct access to advanced technical resources to enhance graphics and performance, as showcased at GDC 2025.
LightSpeed Japan Studio and Hideaki Itsuno’s Vision
At GDC 2025, legendary director Hideaki Itsuno announced his new AAA project at the recently established studio in Japan. Known for his work on Devil May Cry and other Capcom classics, Itsuno is readily building a team focused on creative freedom and innovation in order to create something truly original and groundbreaking.
Itsuno states that the studio is aiming to create a diverse, technology driven environment to develop the best gameplay experiences unlike anything players have ever seen before.

A Global Approach to Game Development
LightSpeed Studios empowers each regional team to shape its own culture while blending Eastern and Western gaming philosophies.
A key example is Last Sentinel, an original AAA open-world action game led by Steve C. Martin, the Vice President of LightSpeed Studios and known for his commitment to five-year long development plans. With a team comprised of talent from Rockstar Games, Meta, and EA, Martin emphasizes creative freedom, efficiency, and constructive feedback and aims to bring his original AAA open world action game, Last Sentinel, to life.
Martin also states that every studio dreams of developing their own original games, and that is exactly why LightSpeed Studios is the place to be.
