The company announced the decision to lay off a fifth of its workforce on its official X/Twitter account, saying that they are also affected by the worsening market conditions.
They also said that those who are laid off are amazing people, and implore other companies to hire them if they can.
“These people are amazing, talented, and awesome developers. They have made a huge impact during their time in Deck Nine Games and we did not take this decision lightly,” the statement reads. “Please hire these people if you can, they’re amazing.”
This now marks the second time the company needed to lay off its workers, with the first time being in May 2023, when the narrative designer of Deck Nine, Elizabeth Ballou, announced the news last year.
With Deck Nine also being affected by layoffs, the company now joins the list of layoff news trends that have been going on for over a year. Just in 2024, we have seen many companies regardless of size being affected by layoffs, such as Sony Interactive Entertainment, Supermassive Games, ZA/UM, Twitch, and many more.
