A leaked Facebook page appears to have revealed a new mobile game in the popular Like a Dragon (formerly known as Yakuza) series ahead of schedule. According to reports, users have discovered a Facebook page for a game titled “Yakuza Wars,” which seemingly targets Chinese players.
The page includes new artwork and a brief description of the game, stating: “Sega’s first officially licensed Like a Dragon mobile game is a brand new, classic gangster-themed masterpiece for mobile phones, creating innovative strategic war gameplay.” It also mentions that players will be able to “fight side by side with classic characters such as Kiryu Kazuma, Kasuga Ichiban, and Majima Goro.”
Mobile ads and a trailer for Yakuza Wars have also been spotted online, though they currently focus on character art rather than showcasing actual gameplay footage. This revelation comes after Sega filed a trademark for “Yakuza Wars” last month, sparking speculation about whether it would be a major entry in the series or a spin-off.

The timing of this leak is interesting, as it follows recent teasers from Like a Dragon developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio at the Essence of Fandom event during Anime Expo in July, in which the studio reportedly hinted at a surprise for their next game. Additionally, they announced plans to reveal the next Like a Dragon game at Tokyo Game Show, scheduled for September 26 to 29, 2024.
It remains unclear whether Yakuza Wars is the surprise the studio was referring to, or if there’s another mainline entry in development for the Like a Dragon series. As of now, Sega has not officially announced or commented on Yakuza Wars.
