Project L, the fighting game based on the world of League of Legends, is now officially titled 2XKO and it’s targeting a 2025 release window.
In a new developer update, going forward, 2XKO is now the official title for the fighting game previously only referred to as Project L, confirmed to be coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
For the uninitiated, 2XKO, formerly Project L as mentioned previously, is Riot Games’ take on a 2-versus-2 tag-based fighting game based on their highly fantastical world of Runeterra, with iconic Champions from League of Legends as the fighters.
The currently confirmed playable champions are Ahri, Darius, Ekko, Jinx, Katarina, Illaoi, and Yasuo.
Alongside a new name, Executive Producer Tom Cannon also released a video to provide further updates for the fighting game, saying that it is “entering a new phase of development”.
“Overall, we’re building an always evolving fighting game for the FGC (fighting game community), and there’s so much to be excited for, but there’s also a lot we still have to figure out, and so that’s where we’re going to need your help.”
A playable demo of 2XKO is also announced, with sessions to be available worldwide throughout 2024 including the Evo Japan tournament event in April.
Riot Games is also hopeful of initiating at-home playtesting sessions before the end of the year, and fans who want to participate can already start registering through the official 2XKO website.
“2023 was us in Project L heads-down mode, with a really valuable check-in at Evo,” said Cannon.
“2024 will be about getting you more involved with events, updates and yes, maybe even some at home playtesting later this year.
