Wizards of the Coast has launched prerelease events for Magic: The Gathering’s latest set, Foundations, ahead of its official tabletop release on November 15. The new set aims to bridge the gap between new and veteran players by offering a carefully curated selection of both new and returning cards from Magic’s 30-year history.
Foundations introduces several product lines designed to accommodate different player experiences and collection preferences. The Beginner Box provides new players with two ready-to-play decks, guided play instructions, reference materials, playmats, and bonus packs for immediate two-player games. For those looking to build their collection, the Starter Collection offers over 350 staple cards across all colors, complete with tutorials and expert guidance.
The set introduces Foundations Jumpstart Boosters, featuring a streamlined deck-building experience where players can create a deck by combining any two booster packs. Each Jumpstart pack includes one exclusive Anime card treatment.
For collectors and draft enthusiasts, Foundations offers both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. The Collector Boosters showcase premium versions of cards, including 70 borderless treatments and special Eclipse Mana Foil cards with vanish treatments. The set also features Special Guest cards, with 10 cards showcasing popular Booster Fun treatments from previous sets, illustrated by fan-favorite artists. Additionally, 51 Japan Showcase cards will be available exclusively in Collector Boosters.
The complete product line includes Beginner Boxes, Starter Collections, Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Foundations Jumpstart Boosters, Prerelease Packs, and Bundles, providing multiple entry points for both new and established players to experience what Wizards of the Coast describes as “the classic Magic you know and love, modernised for a new era of play.”
