Perhaps to no one’s particular surprise, the apparent rip off of Kimetsu no Yaiba / Demon Slayer in a Korean mobile game, ends service. The announcement comes a mere 5 days since its initial launch via an official Cafe Naver post. Service will officially end on 29 April 2020, 10 AM KST. Any in-game purchases have been blocked since 8 PM KST on the 27th.
The roughly translated reason for the game ending service is due to the various “issues” that have surrounded the game, deciding that it would be best to conclude operations. While the developer had claimed it wasn’t plagiarism, the comments have certainly not subsided for it to continue service.
Besides the similar story and setting, the gameplay is apparently lifted from another game as well. Considering how games often make use of existing game systems, but with their own takes on it, this may have been more damning if the relevant parties decided to investigate. At any rate, the game will no longer be playable soon enough.
In the mean time, we’ll wait for more news regarding the official, actual Kimetsu games to release more information regarding their respective titles for mobile and PS4.
