The narrative centers on the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes said to have created the world. Players will follow the journey of the protagonist, the son of village chief Hou, whose life changes dramatically when his village comes under attack following his successful first hunt. Alongside companions Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur, the hero embarks on what begins as a small adventure to restore peace to his village but eventually evolves into something much larger, driven by the “great whirlpool of destiny.”
Key Characters
The game introduces several main characters:
- Hero (voiced by Tomohiro Ono): The protagonist and son of the village chief, described as kind, courageous, and charming.
- Hisui (voiced by Hika Tsukishiro): A servant in the Hero’s household who suppresses her emotions for unknown reasons, though she is naturally cheerful and kind.
- Hou (voiced by Akio Otsuka): The village chief and Hero’s father, formerly a fighter who united ruffians to establish a new village. His past remains mysterious, but he appears to have connections with important figures across various countries.
- Shirin (voiced by Fairouz Ai): The Hero’s childhood friend with a high-spirited personality and strong sense of justice, occasionally prone to tunnel vision.
- Shapur (voiced by Takuya Sato): The Hero’s teacher and butler of the Hou household, formerly a general whose presence in a small village seems unusual.
Manga artist Aki Shimizu, known for her work on the Suikoden III manga, expressed excitement about the new addition to the series “after a long silence.” The game’s theme song, titled Campanula, will be performed by Kaho Nakamura. The Suikoden series, which first launched in Japan in 1995, has previously encompassed 11 titles across both main storylines and spin-offs, making this mobile entry the newest chapter in the long-running franchise.
