Publisher tinyBuild has revealed Kingmakers, an upcoming third-person shooter about becoming a soldier shooting down footmen and knights with an arsenal of modern weapons in the medieval era.
The game is being developed by Redemption Road Games and is currently planned for a release on PC via Steam in 2024.
How did you end up in war-torn medieval eras with AK-47, you asked? Time travel.
The premise of Kingmakers revolves around you as the last hope in a dying world as you travel back 500 years to medieval English to change the course of history.
According to the developers, the battle runs as a fully real-time simulation with thousands of individual soldiers fighting at the same time through the control of multi-threaded AI and procedural animation systems.
Aside from AK-47, you will have access to a wide variety of modern firearms, including shotguns and grenade launchers, while also being able to call down air strikes to bombard the battlefield – introducing the people of the past to the horror of modern warfare.
There will also be vehicles such as armored SUVs, bikes, and attack helicopters for you to ride into battle and ram defenseless footmen around.
Kingmakers is not only about blasting down medieval footmen with guns as you can switch between combat and issuing orders to your army, from legions of archers to spearmen and cavalry to build up fortifications against the enemies.
You can even invite up to three of your friends in your conquest to mow down medieval infantries in online cooperative multiplayer play.
