RAW, a sandbox MMORPG inspired by Grand Theft Auto Online and Rust, has had its Kickstarter suspended.
Creator KillerWhale Games had been deemed dishonest in regards to its financial and creative decisions, bringing about the suspension. “This creator stated in an update that they would need to raise additional funds outside of Kickstarter to complete the game. We require projects to be honest and clearly presented, and this project failed to meet that standard,” said a Kickstarter representative.
At campaign suspension, RAW gained $193,332 from 3,893 from its $78,818 target. KillerWhale had admitted the $78,818 was not enough for its ambitions through its project FAQ, saying it had additional funding sources. However, the campaign was also stated to be bundled in a hurry. Certainly not inspiring confidence.
The FAQ states the “minimal comfortable amount is around $300,000”. Apparently, there was a tight deadline to prepare the Kickstarter. Timing forecast mistakes, delays and serious life circumstances were provided as reasons for the lack of preparation.
Despite Kickstarter suspending the campaign, KillerWhale has intentions to use Indiegogo for funding.
