Bandai Namco Pictures has announced production of a new Keroro Gunsou anime project based on Mine Yoshizaki’s manga series of the same name.
The announcement did not reveal the format of the anime or it’s release date, but has unveiled a promotional video for the project on the official Keroro Gunsou YouTube channel.
Also known as Sergant Keroro in the West, the project will be made in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the original series which ran from 3 April 2004 to 3 April 2011, spanning 358 episodes across 7 seasons.
Based on the trailer, the anime project promises to feature a similar art and animation style to the original while adding modern elements fitting the Reiwa era.
Besides the anime series, there have also been 5 full feature films released featuring the beloved alien frog.
Here is the official description for the new anime:
I am is Sergeant Keroro, and I am an alien Keron.
As a platoon leader invading Earth,
I have been conducting covert operations on this planet as a spy to invade it.
However, Fuyuki Hinata and Natsumi Hinata, saw through our perfect camouflage
And my precious Kero-Ball was taken away from me.
(Ha, ha! We lent it to them!) The main force found out and temporarily retreated,
And I was left behind on this Earth.
So, I (reluctantly) became friends with Fuyuki-dono
And was officially assigned (as a housemate) to the Hinata family!
Although I seem to be enjoying my life on Earth, it does not mean that I have given up on conquering it.
I will gather the members of my platoon
And conquer the earth!
Kero, kero, kero, kero, kero, kero…
