Ember Lab‘s Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been named an Official Selection at the Tribeca Festival, in the event’s inaugural programming track dedicated to games. As an Official Selection, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is eligible for the first-ever Tribeca Festival Game Award. There will be all-new gameplay also premiering at the event, which runs from 9 to 20 June 2021. The game itself is also available for hands-on remote play for some festival ticket holders.
The 20th Tribeca Festival brings together artists and audience to celebrate storytelling across mediums from film, TV, VR, games, music, and online work.
“It’s always been our mission to tell the most immersive stories possible, whether in our short films, commercial work, or our first game. “We are deeply honored to be acknowledged by a festival as prestigious as Tribeca and thrilled to be part of this premier class of game official selections.”
Mike Grier, co-founder and chief creative officer of Ember Lab
Kena: Bridge of Spirits will launch 24 August on PS5, PS4 and PC via the Epic Games store. The story-driven action adventure sees you play Kena, a young Spirit Guide, as she uncovers an abandoned village afflicted with corruption. Blending exploration, puzzle-solving and fast-paced combat, move through a narrative of self-discovery.
“This year’s selections showcase the potential for phenomenal storytelling in interactive experiences, with characters and worlds that explore the deep connection we have to ourselves and the world around us. From action/adventure to interactive thriller to intimate point and click narratives, these selections demonstrate a range of story and gameplay as well as visual style. We fell in love with the characters and the worlds that each game presented to us.”
Casey Baltes, Vice President of Tribeca Games
