Pokemon has announced a host of celebrations to kick off its 25th Anniversary, with Katy Perry being involved with “musical surprises” for the event.
While The Pokemon Company hasn’t revealed the exact scale and nature of the partnership, they promised “Musical surprises” in their tweet announcing the partnership, even playing what appears to be a new song by Katy Perry at the end of their video.
Perry also announced the collaboration on her own twitter, referencing her past with one of the 90s most iconic franchises.
Where u were directly affects where u are now… ♥️

Aside from the very brief snippet of what appears to be a new song, the video also walks fans through the entire history of Pokemon, making reference to all the various games including the mobile phenomenon Pokemon Go. It’s also a convenient excuse to show off all the different Pokemon merchandise currently available for purchase such as the various figurines and plushies.
Pokemon is entering its 25th year since the release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green in 1996, which sparked off one of the most prolific mixed media franchises in decades. Since then, the monster collecting RPG has branched off into a trading card game, a fighting game and even a genre-defining mobile game.
