Akatsuki Games has revealed fresh assets for their upcoming free-to-play title Kaiju No. 8: The Game, including a striking key visual and in-game character screenshots. The new visual prominently features the titular Kaiju No. 8, while the character screenshots showcase five main characters from the series: Kaiju No. 8, Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, Mina Ashiro, and Soshiro Hoshina.
The game, which is being developed in partnership with TOHO and Production I.G, is set to launch on multiple platforms including PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. While the game will initially release in Japan as a free-to-play title with optional in-app purchases, details regarding a global release date have not yet been announced.
Based on the popular manga series that began serialization in Shonen Jump+ in July 2020, Kaiju No. 8 follows the story of Kafka Hibino, who works as a Kaiju cleanup worker while harboring dreams of joining The Defense Force alongside his childhood friend Mina Ashiro. His encounter with Reno Ichikawa reignites his determination to fulfill his promise and protect humanity.
The release window of the game will follow the recent premiere of the Kaiju No. 8 anime adaptation, which began airing in April 2024. Further details about the game’s release date and specific features are expected to be announced in the future.
