Kaguya Sama Love Is War, the popular rom com manga, has announced its own visual novel, coming to PC.
The Kaguya Sama visual novel will release on Steam May 31st, and will feature a non-linear story, Players will play as their own version of series protagonist Miyuki Shirogane, president of the school’s Student Council, as you deal with trying to get your vice president, the titular Kaguya Shinomiya to confess her feelings to you first.
The game will be getting a simultaneous release in English, meaning international fans will be able to experience the game from day 1 as well.
Considering the manga’s plot is pretty central to the Miyuki-Kaguya relationship, it’s unknown if any of the alternate branches will involve romancing any of the game’s other characters, such as secretary Chika Fujiwara or Kaguya’s servant, Ai Hayasaka.
It looks as though if the game is roughly following the main beats of the manga and anime, it will be covering material from the anime’s second season, as newcomer Miko Iino is also in the game’s title screen as well.
Kaguya Sama: The Genius’ War of Love And Brains
Kaguya Sama has had a big boom in popularity following its anime adaptation, with the series entering its third season, alongside its second live action movie and collaborations with games like Shadowverse.
The plot of Kaguya Sama revolves around Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, two self-described geniuses with a complex that make them think opening up to the other about their feelings is a sign of weakness. The manga is a series of contrived over elaborate plans to get the other person to spend time with them, along with general slice-of-life fluff.
It’s also got a healthy assortment of side characters, all acting as foils to one of the two protagonists as they live their high school lives in an elite private school, such as the dour treasurer Ishigami, the bubbly secretary Chika or the strict underclassman Iino Miko.
