The next chapter of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure , Part 6 : Stone Ocean, is getting an anime adaptation. This follows 2018’s adaptation of Part 5: Golden Wind.
The official Jojo Anime Twitter posted a short announcement video yesterday, confirming the adaptation as well as the voice actor for the series new protagonist, Jolyne Cujoh. The character will be voiced by Ai Fairouz, who had also voiced the protagonist of How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?
Ai Fairouz is a self-professed lover of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, saying the series is what inspired her to get into voice acting in the first place. She also expressed excitement to voice Jolyne, the only female protagonist of the series.
“I love and admire Jolyne as a character and her beautiful, strong nature gave me strength, especially during my student years. So I’m really grateful for the opportunity to voice Jolyne”, she said.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean follows the daughter of Part 3 Protagonist Jotaro Kujo, Jolyne Cujoh. The part once again involves the Arrows, powerful relics that are related to the series iconic Stands as well as the indirect involvement of DIO, long-running nemesis of the Joestar bloodline. No release date has been given for the upcoming adaptation.
The anime announcement comes 3 years after the debut of Part 5: Golden Wind, which adapted the whole manga in one run rather than splitting it into 12-episode cours like regular anime. It’s unknown if the Stone Ocean anime would be doing the same thing, though its very likely.
New part announcements are a big deal in the Jojo community, as Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’s anthology-style approach to storytelling allows each adaptation to largely be self-contained. That being said, they frequently feature overlapping characters from different parts, such as Part 2 Protagonist Joseph Joestar being part of Part 3’s main cast, as with Part 3’s protagonist, Jotaro doing the same in Part 4.
