It has been announced that Hirohiko Araki’s Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure (Jojo) Part 9: JOJOLands will begin serialization on the 17th of February 2023. Shueisha will be publishing it in the March issue of Ultra Jump.
Jojo part 9 was announced last year following the conclusion of Jojo Part 8: Jojolion with Araki stating the following in the September 2021 issue of Ultra Jump:
“Thank you very much for these past 10 years of ”JoJolion”! Let’s take a bit of a rest, and then meet again with the new “JOJOLANDS” (tentative)”.
The gap between Parts 8 and 9 will be the most extended hiatus Araki has taken between parts of the series. However, Araki worked on three chapters of Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe during this time.
In terms of story, we know little about the plot of JOJOLands, only that it will take place in the same continuity as Jojo Part 7 and 8. These take place in an alternate timeline from the world established in Parts 1-6. Araki also recently said in an interview that Part 9 would be about the descendants of the character named Joseph Joestar who appeared at the end of Part 8.
“I’m currently planning out Part 9. Of course, it’s going to be a story about the “Joestar bloodline“. “Joseph Joestar” appeared at the end of Part 8, which was foreshadowing that this story will be about his descendants”.
