Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean will release globally on Netflix, ahead of its TV broadcast, according to Warner Bros. Japan.
In a tweet today following the special livestream, the company announced that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean would release on Netflix in December 2021, ahead of its TV release in January 2022.
“The anime “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean” PV has been released!”, the tweet reads.
“Scheduled to start worldwide exclusive first distribution on Netflix from December 2021, and broadcast on TOKYO MX, MBS, and BS11 from January 2022!” (Translation provided by DeepL).
This is a huge leap for both Netflix and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, considering most anime complete their TV runs first before coming to Netflix, as was the case with Godzilla Singular Point and Beastars.
The news follows a special livestream introducing the next chapter of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure to get adapted into an anime. During the livestream, they introduced the main cast of the series, and showed off the first trailer setting up the events of Stone Ocean.
Currently, all five animated parts of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure are available on Netflix, with Part 5: Golden Wind having recently been added for SEA audiences.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is an anthology of stories by author and artist Hirohiko Ariaki, chronicling the adventures of members of the Joestar bloodline. While most of these “parts” take place in the same universe, each part features its own protagonist.
