Launched at the end of March, Chain Strike is Com2uS’s latest strategy RPG that features turn-based battles inspired by the movement and attack of chess. Along with the narration of famous voice actors (of Korea and Japan), over 200 characters aka Guardians move and attack just like the chess pieces (Rook / Knight / Bishop / Queen / King) on a 5 x 7 battlefield.
Team Forming and Chess-Board Gameplay
Don’t worry if you are new to chess, the game is providing guides to help you out during the battle. Characters come in 4 different traits – Attack, Defense, HP and Support as well as 5 different directions just like chess pieces. 3 action points (AP) will be given every turn. Different skills consume a different amount of AP, the AP points is shared among all characters so you will have to use it strategically.
Placing a character nearby an ally would activate the combo named “pincer attack“, where up to 5 Guardians can attack together for higher damage. The game comes in both auto and manual mode too, you can switch between them easily in the midst of a battle.
Various game modes
Chain Strike features a story (adventure) mode consisting of 8 chapters and 3 different difficulties. There is also a promotion battle mode consists of 2 different types of gameplay – a PvP Battle Mode and a Rival Mode where players will fight against bosses of each chapter.
Players can also challenge The Forgotten Tower – a dungeon consists of 50 floors or The Unknown Land consists of a total of 6 dungeons for various rewards including the Evolution Stones required to evolve Guardians. If you have acquired a 6★ Guardian, you will be able to use the Hall of Judgement for Awakening materials too.
