On a recent media preview event for Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man (thanks Sony!), we didn’t just got to play the latest Spider-Man game or interview with Insomniac Games’ Community Director, James Stevenson. We were also able to interview with Sony’s Head of Product Management, Arata Naito! Now that he’s based in Singapore, we got the chance to interview him with some questions about the market and industry of Sony in our Southeast Asian region.

THE INTERVIEW
As you might already know who Arata Naito, we went on to ask some relevant questions regarding Sony’s PlayStation market in our SEA region. With the recent news on the upcoming PSX 2018 that is going to be held in Bangkok, Thailand this year, we were wondering if there would be any chances for PSX to come to Malaysia again as they did in Kuala Lumpur back in 2017. The impact of PSX 2017 was huge as Arata mentioned and they hoped to bring PSX to the whole of SEA, so we will have to wait for our turn in the next couple of years – probably.
We also got info on the game genres that most Malaysian favor – which are sports and shooting games because of their competitiveness. Even Arata knows how competitive Malaysians are! That is also the reason why we also had the Sony PlayStation League back in April 2018. It was because of them that our Call of Duty: WW II Malaysian team, Rampage Gaming, had the chance to go further to Anaheim! They are also looking forward to have more events like that in SEA, in the coming future.
While many of us have always dreamt of being just a janitor in Sony, some of us still dream of actually being someone and working on something important for Sony. So Arata had some pointers for you guys out there who are seeking to be apart of Sony. For one, you need to have passion for gaming. Actually…that’s the most important quality they are seeking for. Of course, you also need to fulfill the criteria in terms of skills and experience. But most importantly, Sony is looking for that fiery burning passion for gaming. So if you think you have gone through lengths to show your passion for gaming, why not give a shot and hit them with your resume? 😉
