Ingress Prime, the direct sequel of Ingress, is available on Android and iOS right now. For those unfamiliar with Ingress, it is what led to the development of Pokemon GO.
Despite the massive popularity of Pokemon GO, Ingress did not receive the same treatment. However, it had its dedicated players and fan-base. Ingress Prime serves as Niantic’s way of reviving their aging augmented reality game.
Ingress Prime has a revamped system that may be unfamiliar for players of the original Ingress. It is more similar to Pokemon GO except that the system in Ingress Prime is more complicated. A new UI and a new item management system are some of the new changes made to the game. Furthermore, the game features improved graphics over the first which gives the game a flashier look. Unfortunately, the improved graphics will most likely affect battery life in a drastic manner.
Ingress Prime also features a Recurse system which allows Level 16 Agents to return back to Level 1 with 0 AP. This gives players a chance to begin their journey anew if they wish to. In exchange, players will receive a badge signifying their accomplishment.
Some aspects of the original return in the sequel, most notably the factions and battle system. Players can re-join their faction, The Enlightened or The Resistance, from the original. In-tune with the theme, the battle system makes a return with improved graphics as well.
