Impulse Gaming has announced that their website was hacked today, with the hackers having access to users personal information.
In a statement on Facebook, they explained that while personal information was compromised, payment information is still secure.
“We are sorry to inform that our official website was compromised this morning. The perpetrator has gotten hold of our customer details such as name and email address”, the statement reads.
They have since urged users to ignore any emails from Impulse Gaming until they’d rectified the issue, with no date set for when that would be.
As of this writing, the Impulse Gaming website is currently down, with attempts to access the page leading to a 404 error.
In a reply to a comment asking for free stuff, a representative said they would “for sure do something (sic)” to compensate users for the current downtime.
It’s unclear if this only affects users who have accounts on the Impulse gaming website itself, rather than users who buy through their e-commerce platforms like Shopee.
Impulse Gaming is one of Malaysia’s biggest game retailers, providing access to games, peripherals as well as merchandise like figures and model kits.
Cyber Security has become a big issue in Malaysia, with an excess of scams as a result of major data breaches.
