Japan-based game publisher Marvelous has announced that it is developing new game based on the Ikki Tousen IP for the Android and iOS platforms, going with the title Ikki Tousen: Extra Burst.
No other details were disclosed, other than the fact that it will serve to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ikki Tousen series. It will however be out in Spring 2020, so that is the window we will be working with. It is worth noting, this is not the franchise’s first outing on the mobile, as two years ago, there was one simply named Ikki Tousen.
For the uninitiated, Ikki Tousen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuji Shiozaki, which was first serialised in Comic Gum in April 2000 until August 2015. The plot revolves around a turf war between seven different high schools in the Kanto region. Among these students, there are a select few in possession of sacred beads which are actually magatama that carry the souls of warriors who fought during the Three Kingdoms Era in China. While bestowed the abilities of the souls they are tied to, these students may also either be blessed or cursed with the fates of said warriors from the past.
