NetEase has released a new map for their popular asymmetrical horror experience, Identity V titled Dark Woods.
Fans would have already had a glimpse of the Dark Woods with the Time of Reunion event in the game. But starting today, they’ll be able to tangle with all things spooky in the Dark Woods for themselves.
You’ll be able to use the abandoned items in the woods to your advantage, with swings, empty huts and more providing all sorts of tactical advantages in the game.
Like any good horror setting the Dark Woods in Identity V is not without its lore- in true Identity V fashion it’s one of intrigue and mystery. Here’s a brief rundown of the goings on of the Dark Woods:
This used to be the most beautiful forest in Oletus Manor, with lush trees, cute animals playing everywhere, and children laughing and playing around. But after the Gamekeeper Bane’s accident, the forest was completely shut down, not only for poachers, but also visitors. This didn’t last long, after the owner of the Manor and his wife passed away, the forest that lacked maintenance, was later destroyed in a mountain fire.
Since then, the beautiful forest was then sealed in the dust. Nobody has even seen that Gamekeeper again, but the legend of Dark Woods was passed on ever after.
