SEGA Europe has announced HYENAS, an ambitious multi-platform shooter from Creative Assembly. Sign-ups are now open for the game’s closed alpha test on PC.
The billionaires are on Mars, and have left Earth in a completely broken state. Left in the ‘Taint’, all the rich care about is getting the rare Merch left behind to decorate their mansions. Well, steal that back from the Plunderships. These ships are filled with hired thugs, alarm systems and armed drones the rich can afford, but your crew of Hyenas are gonna be able to get in and get the hell out.
Assemble the team from a ragtag cast of uniquely skilled and armed criminal misfits for a space piracy smash and grab. Your intrepid trio will go up against four other crews to get the spiciest loot, and the getaway. Each Plundership is a sandbox of interlocking systems that will be ripe for the slickest teams to exploit. Quick movement, lethal combat, and hazardous, switchable zero-G zones will be your playground to ride or die in.
“We believe the key to modern shooter success is understanding what players want to see and where they want to take their experience. We know we’ve got something interesting on our hands, but we also know the odds are stacked against us. To take on the biggest games in the industry, we need to hear what players think, right up front and early. If you’re in, we want to take you along for the ride. That’s why after today’s announcement, we’re also launching into the first of our public Alpha tests.”
David Nicholson, Executive Producer
Declaring there will be no pay to win mechanics, HYENAS will have Panini sticker albums, a SEGA Mega Drive and PEZ dispensers instead.
