In a recent announcement, publishers Bushiroad Games and Arc System Works, along with developer Eighting, stated that they will postpone Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact until 2025. The game, originally slated for a 2024 release, will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The primary reason for the delay is the implementation of rollback netcode, a system designed to reduce connection lag in online matches. In their statement, the production team expressed their apologies for any inconvenience caused by the delay. They emphasized that they made this decision to ensure players can fully enjoy the game without encountering issues during online play.
We made this decision out of concern that players would not be able to fully enjoy the game in a state where some players would encounter issues with online play, given the nature of fighting games.
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is set to be the first fighting game based on the popular anime series. It will feature a three-versus-three battle system, where team composition and character synergy play crucial roles. The game also boasts a “Rush Combo” system for easy execution of powerful attack sequences, and an online battle mode where players can compete for rank points and aim for the coveted “three-star hunter” status.
Additionally, the game will include a story mode allowing players to relive iconic moments from the Hunter x Hunter animated series through CPU battles. This mode will also serve as a tutorial for newcomers to grasp the game’s mechanics.
