Hunter x Hunter is a popular long-running shounen however due to health issues Togashi has had to put it on and off hiatus several times. The latest chapter was released in November of 2018, around three and half years ago, making this the longest hiatus the manga has endured.
The manga follows Gon, a young boy that wishes to become a hunter in order to find his deadbeat dad. A hunter in this world is an elite profession that allows a person to take on various types of jobs or missions from hunting magical beasts to becoming an assassin to treasure hunting. Basically getting a Hunter License means you can do whatever you want for free. Along the way, he meets several new friends, rivals, and enemies.
The manga has received two anime adaptations, one in 1999 and a second in 2011. The 2011 anime covers more arcs of the manga and as of this article, is currently the 8th highest-rated anime on MyAnimeList.
Hunter x Hunter (2011) as well as the anime adaptation of Togashi’s previous manga, Yu Yu Hakusho are available for streaming in Malaysia on Netflix.
