While smartphone-makers are busying on upgrading camera features to help their flagship devices stand out, HUAWEI chooses to focus on developing a whole new mobile AI (artificial intelligence) experience. Taking a huge step towards the goal, HUAWEI launches the first-ever mobile chipset with built-in AI – Kirin 970 recently.
The HUAWEI Kirin 970 processor is a new generation of hyper-fast mobile chip featuring a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Its mobile AI platform requires a lot of power and with the NPU, HUAWEI’s next smartphone will be able to dedicate power to perform AI-based tasks. The NPU will also enable cloud-based AI and on-device AI to run alongside each other faster than ever before, thus improving the AI experience.
HUAWEI Kirin 970 processor comes with tons of high-end features, such as powerful graphics performance (integrated 12-core GPU), better power management (10nm structure) and improved LTE capability (Cat 18 support). It could process 2,000 images per minute (faster than other chips in the market) too.
HUAWEI’s upcoming Mate series (featuring Kirin 970) will be announced in a few weeks. Till the time comes, we will be able to see how powerful it is!
