It would seem that HoYoverse has been cracking down on the private servers of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, shutting them down and arresting those responsible.
According to a public announcement on WeChat, HoYoverse had been working closely with authorities in China and had cracked down 6 cases of private servers for Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.
As of October 23rd, HoYoverse has made significant progress in its rights protection campaign and had close cooperation with China’s public security and law enforcement departments to crack criminal cases of private services of their games.
In the announcement, HoYoverse stated that 6 private servers had been uncovered and closed down, including the more notable Zhu Xian private server (诛仙私服).
A total of 16 suspects have been taken into custody in this operation, 2 of which are developers of the private servers, while the rest are server operators.
Simultaneously, HoYoverse announced that they have initiated rights protection actions against any websites or content creators who actively provide guides and sales to private servers.
It was stated that civil lawsuits have been filed against those contributing websites and content creators and they will have to bear the corresponding legal responsibilities.
Furthermore, the company announced that it will continue to intensify its crackdown on any illicit activities and the private server industry.
The company will spare no effort in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of copyright holders and consumers, and the health of the gaming industry, as stated in the announcement.
