Tencent announced the newest addition to the Honor of Kings franchise last night, dubbed Honor of Kings World.
Honor of Kings World doesn’t have a release date yet- though several stills from the game were shown, and it looks like Tencent’s jumping in on the open-world action-RPG trend started by titles like Genshin Impact.
We did also get a high quality CG trailer showing off the concept of the game, which features big Monster Hunter-esque bossfights and a cool combat system.
Just like Monster Hunter it looks like interrupting fights will be entirely possible- as a huge dragon jumps in in the middle of the player’s fight, chasing off their first quarry.
The game will apparently also getting a worldwide release, though it’s unknown if this will be using the same name or under the Arena of Valor brand that the original game used for its international release. The Weibo post confirming this also describes it as a Multi-Platform release, so there’s a good chance we might see it on either PC or console as well, though it’s not known if it will be released simultaneously at launch.
Honor of Kings is Tencent’s leading franchise, regularly topping monthly reports on mobile game earnings globally. The franchise is so popular that Tencent is even building a theme park based on the IP, though there’s been little updates on that recently.
