In a major announcement that signals ambitious growth for mobile esports, Level Infinite has revealed the comprehensive 2025 roadmap for Honor of Kings esports, backed by a substantial 15 million USD investment to develop the global ecosystem.
James Yang, Senior Director of Level Infinite Global Esports Center, presented the detailed plans during a highly anticipated update session. The roadmap introduces six new Regional Professional Leagues – PKL, MKL, IKL, WKS, KME, and KMW – which will join the established KPL (King Pro League in China) and CHOKBR (Honor of Kings Brazil Championship), significantly expanding the game’s competitive footprint worldwide.
Economic Impact and Regional Expansion
The economic impact of Honor of Kings esports has already been demonstrated through the KPL’s success in China. According to data from the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association, the KPL ecosystem has generated over 100,000 job opportunities, with the 2024 Grand Final in Beijing alone producing an estimated 303 million RMB in direct economic benefits and 669 million RMB in indirect benefits. Looking ahead, the KPL Grand Finals 2025 will be held at Beijing’s iconic National Stadium, known as the Bird’s Nest.

With the addition of six new regional leagues, Honor of Kings Esports aims to replicate this economic success globally. The organization has expressed its commitment to working with stakeholders and partners worldwide to develop the potential of local esports industries, creating new job opportunities and economic benefits across multiple regions.

Two global tournaments will serve as the pinnacle competitions for Honor of Kings in 2025: The KWC (Honor of Kings World Cup) in July at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, and the KIC (Honor of Kings International Championship) in November. The upcoming KWC represents a milestone for the scene, as global teams will face the KPL Spring Season champion for the first time in Riyadh.
Regional Program and Accessibility
In discussing the regional program expansion, Yang provided more details about current opportunities: “Our goal is to provide more opportunities for teams to join the regional program. For instance, Indonesia currently has 10 teams competing, with 8 officially recognized. If any strong or well-established teams are interested in joining the ecosystem, they are encouraged to reach out, as there are still chances available.”
Yang emphasized the accessibility of the Honor of Kings competitive ecosystem: “Honor of Kings esports follows an open system, ensuring accessibility for all players, regardless of their background. There are multiple pathways to becoming a professional player, from open tournaments to campus series and regional qualifiers. Our commitment to esports is evident in our investment in professional leagues and grassroots competitions, which attract millions of players to the ecosystem.”
Stability and Future Growth
Regarding partner teams, Yang indicated that consistency will be maintained while allowing for new entries: “We aim to maintain consistency in our partner teams while allowing room for new entries. Our current teams have invested significantly in the ecosystem, and unless major issues arise, they will continue to participate in upcoming seasons. Additionally, open qualifiers will enable fresh talent to enter the competitive scene.”
This balanced approach aims to reward team organizations that have already invested in Honor of Kings while maintaining competitive integrity through qualification systems.

Yang concluded by acknowledging that while Honor of Kings is the world’s most played mobile MOBA, its global esports presence is still developing: “Honor of Kings is the most played mobile MOBA in the world, yet as a global esports title, it is still young. To help it grow into a major competitive scene, we need the continued support of the community, media, and fans. Together, we can shape the future of Honor of Kings esports.”
This call for community engagement recognizes the crucial role that fans, media, and players will play in establishing Honor of Kings as a premier global esports title. With the substantial investment announced and comprehensive roadmap in place for 2025, Honor of Kings is positioning itself for significant growth in the competitive mobile gaming landscape.
