It has been almost a year since honor 7X is launched in Malaysia, which means it is now the time to launch a new entry to the honor flagship X series! Featuring bigger display, better specs and bigger battery than any of its predecessors, the new gen honor 8X is coming to Malaysia this October. We are lucky to get a chance to try the device beforehand, so here is our honor 8X review where we will tell you about our thoughts on the device!
*Update: The official price and release date have been revealed! Read the details here.
Design and Display
As mentioned in our title, honor 8X features a stunning 6.5″ FHD+ FullView display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is a notch on the upper part of the display, while the 4.25mm narrow chin future extends the display to achieve an impressive 91% screen to body ratio.
Other than this, the display is TUV Rheinland certified – it reduces damage to your eyes when you use the device for a prolonged period. This means your eyes won’t easily feel tired or uncomfortable even if you are gaming on the phone whole day!
Flipping the device to the back and you will see a dual camera with the AI camera label on its upper left corner, as well as a fingerprint scanner at the upper middle. The design of honor 8X is stylish too, its cover is made with 2.5D textured aurora glass that reflects lights differently when you view it from different angles (just like honor 10). Unfortunately, the cover collects fingerprint quickly and is quite slippery, so you will probably want to put on the protective case.
It is available in 4 colour options – Blue (the version we get), Black, Red and Purple, but we don’t sure whether all of them will be available for Malaysia yet.

Also, it features a night mode allowing you to take pretty night shots even without a tripod.

Performance and Battery
Although it doesn’t have the Kirin 970 processor, the Kirin 710 processor equipped in it is still capable to handle multi-tasking and heavy gaming. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage as well, which is more than enough to store your essential apps and plenty of popular mobile games.
We tested the device with a variety of mobile games including Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile and Dragalia Lost. Thanks to the GPU Turbo, the device runs PUBG Mobile seamlessly without a problem under HD graphics and high framerate settings. Playing Arena of Valor is smooth without any lags, while playing Dragalia Lost is enjoyable with its colourful graphics too. There is a 4D Smart Shock feature for PUBG Mobile, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work when we are testing it.
Talking about its battery, you won’t have to worry about its battery draining out quickly as it is having a massive 3750 mAh battery. It could support up to 8 hours of playing graphics-demanding mobile games, or up to 7 hours of watching movies online.
Conclusion
As the honor 8X is not launched in Malaysia yet, we still don’t know how much it will be. But judging its price in China which is RMB 1499, we are expecting it to be available at around RM1000 in Malaysia. In short, we could get a smartphone with a big display, solid performance and clever cameras with just RM1000! It is worth the price, doesn’t it?
